Our trip to the Museum of Weed
Legend has it that Emperor Shen Nong introduced the custom of drinking “ma” tea around 2700 B.C.
A form of medicinal cannabis, the tea was widely described in medical texts that recognized the plant’s healing properties in cases of malaria, gout, mania, insomnia, and forgetfulness.
It’s clear this plant has been around far longer than the potent press about it.
While the 1900s saw the rise of industrialization and commodified leisure, our gal, Mary Jane, saw political opposition which brought about cultural change as those in power began referring to her with names like “devil’s lettuce.”
As far as the plant’s history goes, those aren’t even the cliff notes -- but if you’re interested in learning more, we recommend @MuseumOfWeed in our backyard, Hollywood. Taking audiences on a chronological journey through the ages, the exhibition is an essential experience we hold in the highest regard. Thanks, @WeedMaps for the invite. ;)
Pot is the place where magic and science co-exist. See for yourself, and learn the lore of our favorite flower.
