How We're Voting in the 2020 Election

How We're Voting in the 2020 Election

Companies influence culture, and it's no time for ambivalence — human lives and wellness depend on it. In the 2020 election, it's completely impossible to stay neutral.

There are a number of issues to consider when casting a ballot. As a company, we’re outlining OUR priority issues... the things we care about; the reason we're voting blue.

Here's why we’re choosing Biden/Harris in the 2020 election:

climate change + environmental protection

Record-breaking natural disasters, wildfires, and hurricanes have occurred this year, and climate scientists are begging for leaders to make a change. Biden would rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement, shift the U.S. economy to clean energy, invest $2 trillion in sustainable infrastructure, and take action against fossil fuel companies harming the environment.

Biden's administration would require public companies to disclose the climate risks + greenhouse gas emissions of their operations, incentivizing them to scale back on pollution and harmful environmental practices.

HOW SMALL BUSINESSES HELP THE ENVIRONMENT

cannabis regulation + racial justice

Criminal justice reform and racial justice go hand-in-hand. Biden would decriminalize cannabis and automatically expunge prior convictions. Additionally, he intends to end mandatory minimum sentencing and stop the practice of solitary confinement.

Biden is the candidate who would take steps to reduce rates of incarceration, which are the globally the highest in the United States.

Biden would send individuals with federal drug charges only to rehabilitation instead of jail. He intends to fund partnerships between police departments, mental health specialists, social workers, and substance use disorder experts to facilitate systemic reform.

gender equality + reproductive rights

The loss of Ruth Bader Ginsberg was felt by women around the country and the world. Biden has promised to pass legislation that codifies Roe v. Wade into law, with approval from the Senate.

He would support Title X funding, remove the Mexico City Policy, and assist staff with receiving contraception through employer health insurance. He pledges to “do everything” he can to remove abortion restrictions placed by states.
